ECRF Design Software Can Help Fight Coronavirus

The coronavirus has taken the whole world by storm, and it is affecting almost every country on the face of the planet.  The current efforts to try and stop the reach of the new virus is being trusted in the hands of researchers, that are working around the clock to develop a cure in the form of a vaccine.  There is a great deal of urgency surrounding the coronavirus, and speed is of the essence right now so that we can get the spread under control.  As coronavirus continues to move around the world, medical research teams are now going to new lengths to try and get this dire situation under control.  We wanted to do our bit to highlight some of the ways that this is happening, as well as the things that are going on. The main objective of this article is to spread accurate information in relation to the coronavirus and highlight why ECRF design software tools can help speed things up.

ECRF Design Tools Can Speed Up Data Entry

A huge part of the medical testing process that eats up a great deal of time and money is collecting data and entering all the different information collected from the tests.  Every piece of data from every test subject and every single test must be detailed and logged so that it can be submitted alongside the outcome of the testing when it comes to sending it to the regulators to see if it is approved or not.  ECRF design from Formedix can drastically reduce the time and overall costs that are involved in running these clinical trials.  It is far more efficient and it also means that the entered data is always compliant, meaning that there will be no surprises or delays.

The Covid Vaccine Is Skipping Animal Testing

Almost all forms of human medicine, both drugs and vaccines, usually go through the animal testing stage before it then moves onto the human trial phase.  Although there is currently no law that goes against this process being skipped or changed, doing it any other way completely goes against the normal way of doing things.  The regulators do require that the manufacturer can prove that the medicine is safe before it goes to human testing, and this is how it has always worked for every new drug or vaccine.

Unusual Circumstances

While it seems highly unusual, to skip this important step, it does highlight the extreme urgency that surrounds the issue.  Now experts are saying that if we follow the traditional route, a vaccine will most likely not be available for over 10 years.  At the current rate of coronavirus infection, this is just too long for a vaccine to be available.  What this means is that a new approach has been deemed necessary so that we can cut down this process to hopefully a 1 or 2 year timeline.  There are always sceptics that say that rushing a completely new vaccine through the animal trials process is very foolish.  However, on the other side experts are saying that this is the only way we will get a vaccine quickly enough.

A New Approach

If a shorter timeline is going to be stuck to, we need to make some big changes to how we do these drug trails.  There have been a few trials conducted on animals, but they have not been completely finished. Clearly, in this instance where this new virus came very suddenly, we have to break free of the normal way of doing things so that we can get a new vaccine out to the population quickly.
